Punting in Cambridge

Alright, this week has been chaos. All of our shipments came and let's just say our couch is sitting in the backyard and our boxsprings are in the dining room. I just don't want to talk about those fun few days. Anyways, we are still unpacking so no house pictures yet.

This past Saturday, we went to Cambridge! It's so cool being able to go to places like that just for the day. We drove to a park and ride then took the bus into the city. That is super easy and probably the best way to get into the city. It was a last minute trip so there was not much planning that went into it but we can always go back.

We started out just walking around the city and discovered that there is great shopping. They have multiple malls and of course, stores around the city. We will definitely be going back to do some shopping! We first came across King's College (part of Cambridge University). I thought Michigan State was beautiful but the colleges in Cambridge trump everybody!

We explored the city some more and everywhere you turn, there are beautiful buildings.

While we were wandering, we were constantly approached by people (mostly students) advocating their punting tours (think gondola rides in Venice) and eventually we relented and paid for one. After paying one of the students, we went to find the tour. Our boat fit 12 people and we had people from all around the world in our boat. Our punting guide was 17 years old and getting ready to go to university. The tour would take about an hour all together. The guide gave us great information on all the buildings that we floated by and we really enjoyed it. The very best part was seeing people fall into the water as we saw a grand total of three people fall! The thing about punting in Cambridge is that you can do it yourself or get a guide who knows what they are doing. The self-drive people don't know the rules of the river or even how to steer so it causes chaos. The river was quite packed and we got bumped a ton but apparently, it's nothing compared to the later summer months.

It was a very fun day and there is a ton to do in Cambridge. The punting was great fun and was cool to see the city from a different perspective.

We just booked a bigger trip for this coming weekend! Lee's birthday is this Wednesday, the 4th so this weekend we are going out for it! We are going to Bath/Stonehenge and are super excited for it. I'm hoping to get some great photos to share!
