We stayed at a great bed and breakfast in Bath as Stonehenge is only an hour away. It was adorable and had a great breakfast. We had a traditional English breakfast (but with normal sausage instead of blood pudding) and it was great. Early in the morning we headed to Stonehenge. It was an easy side trip from Bath.
Obviously Stonehenge is a world wonder so it could have been super busy. Luckily, we showed up at a pretty good time, before most of the tour buses showed up. We took a tram to the stones, which were about a mile and a half from the visitors' center. It was awesome to see. I looked like a fool taking a billion pictures and smiling like a crazy person. Lee also thought it was super cool to see and enjoyed it. I tried to take some good picture so hopefully you guys think they turned out!
It was great. There was a walkway that got you really close to the stones and they are huge in real life! You can go into the stones on special tours which we will do when we go back. It was truly magical. There is also a great visitors' center with a lot of information and relics that was great to see for background information.
After Stonehenge, we headed back to Bath and explored the city a bit. First we saw the Roman Baths which were amazing. They are the best preserved Roman Baths still around. It was cool to see but probably could have dealt with a less busy day. Just too many tour group hordes and everybody was standing everywhere listening to the audio guide (which I just have no patience for). But other than that, it was cool to see. We really did get to step where the Romans did. Way cool.
